I'm alive!

Just thought I'd post a link to my J-adventure ramblings here: nagasakibaby.blogspot.com

Yeah, it's ugly. But I like blogger in the way that it's parent and non computer-savvy people friendly, so I can keep in touch with people back home. Nobody really reads it though... haha.

I'm going to keep LJ going because I have a paid account. I'll probably use it for fandom/geek-related topics such as...

Concerts I'm going to in Japan

Sunday, May 10. 2009 - Aqua Timez in Nagasaki

I only got standing seats for this one, but I'm really excited as it'll be my first concert in Japan.

Friday, May 15. 2009 - KAT-TUN in Tokyo

OMFG. All I can say is 来たぁ! I've been waiting for this ever since I got to Japan (and missed out on the Queen of Pirates Concert). I joined You&J as soon as I got to Japan, balloted for tickets and got a pretty good seat. I need to pick up my copy of the new KT CD. I pre-ordered it but was in Okinawa when it was released. To be honest my obsession with KT isn't as strong as it was when I was still in Australia, but going to the concert will no-doubt renew it.

Monday, July 27. - flumpool in Fukuoka

I only discovered this band after one of their songs 花になれ (Hana ni nare) was played non-stop on TV as part of an AU Lismo commerical (a cell phone network in Japan). Their first album 'Unreal' is one of my favourite albums ever.

Hey! How have you been? I can't seem to get the link to your blog to work. :( Anyways, did you decide to say for a 2nd year? I'm still loving it here so I recontracted as soon as they let me. :D

I'll be in Tokyo on Friday. Would you want to meet up before or after the concert? KAT-TUN are just beyond awesome in concert so your obsession will definitely be renewed. I'm getting really excited to see them in concert again. Only one work week to go!

And flumpool is amazing in concert. I saw them in Nagoya a few months ago during their last tour and I have to say that out of all the groups I've seen in concert so far, they were the most thrilled at their fame. Like genuinely, purely, extremely happy about being give a chance to play their music for people. They seemed like such sweet guys. It was really touching to see how humble and even kind of disbelieving they were about their whole raise to popularity. I've got a 6th row ticket for their show in Shizuoka this August so I'm really looking forward to that. :)

Oh... I'm so retarded. I typed the address of my keitai instead. I've fixed the link now. :D

It would be cool to meet up before the concert so we can get all excited about it together. I'm going to see KT alone so it would be great to have some company before.

My keitai mail addy: nagababy@ezweb.ne.jp

Shoot me an email and I'll reply with my number too.

You saw flumpool in Nagoya? :) Seems like we have similar taste in music then. That's sooo cool because I don't know anyone who likes flumpool... or has even heard of them. Like most of my students don't even know who they are. :(

I'm staying a second year! I go through phases... like sometimes I'm in love with Japan and other times I wonder why I don't just move to Hawaii and take up surfing or something. Hah!

Easy enough to do. ;) I'll have to check it out later.

I'm not 100% sure what time I'll get in to Tokyo. I have to work in the morning but I'm hoping I can get to Tokyo by 4 at the latest depending on which buses and trains I can catch. I'll send you a message here in a bit with my contact info and I can keep you updated on Friday when I have a better feel for what time I'll arrive.

Some of my students really like flumpool but it does seem like a good portion of them haven't heard them. I saw them in a magazine shortly after we got here and was like 'flumpool?! wtf kind of name is that?! *googles*' and pretty much immediately fell in love with them. Oh, Japan, you have so many awesome bands with such crazy names.

You'll just have to compromise and take up surfing in Japan then. ;)

I actually started surfing. Well, I've only been twice and the second time there weren't any waves so I just practiced paddling. The surf is lousy in Nagasaki, but I heard it's nice in Miyazaki. Have you been to Kyushu yet?

I haven't been to Kyushu. I'd love to get to all 4 big islands while I'm here though and I've heard Nagasaki is a really popular place to go. One of my girls was just telling me she went there during Golden Week.

There is an airport opening up in July that should have flights to most of Japan and also Korea. It will be super close to where I live so I've kind of been waiting for that to happen before I do too much flying.

I'm right on the coast (my apartment is about 10 minutes from the beach) and there is supposed to be a lot of really good surfing around here. There is actually a rumor I've heard from a couple different people (Japanese and JETs) that says KimuTaku comes here to surf occasionally. Don't know how true that is, but it'd be awesome if it were. The waves don't look that big to me but they do seem very consistent. I however can't even swim so I keep to the sand. ;)

The only regret I had when I left Japan last time was that I had never been to a Japanese concert. I don't know any Kat-tun songs, but I'll definitely go to any Hamasaki or Utada concerts next time I live in Japan. For sure. Have a great time!
